24ss1Bhopal: Dubbed as the biggest political gathering ever in the world, the stage is set for BJP’s mega rally – karykarta mahakumbh – in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh’s capital on Wednesday. Being held at Jambooree Maidan, initially, arrangements were made to accommodate 5 lakh people. However, after party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi confirmed his participation, the number of party workers who are expected to attend the rally swelled to 7.5 lakh. While there is no entry fee for ordinary citizens who wish to listen to Modi’s address, the BJP has charged party workers an entry pass fee of Rs 5 per head. The mega event – held on the birth anniversary of late Jan Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay – is aimed at putting the organizational weight behind Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who will seek a third term in office in the elections scheduled to be held by year end.

Importantly, Narendra Modi and LK Advani will be sharing a stage for the first time after the latter publicly opposed Gujarat Chief Minister’s anointment as BJP’s PM candidate on September 13.The other important leaders who will be on dais include party president Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. Former Madhya Pradesh chief Minister and party vice president Uma Bharti will also be present on the dais. The stage itself has been fashioned as a golden chariot and was named ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’. Aware of the importance to ensure that no senior leader’s ego is hurt, cut-outs of every top leader have been erected at the rally grounds. 11 special trains have been organized to bring people from Rewa, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Balaghat, Ratlam, Gwalior, Singrauli and Guna to the rally in the state capital. Buses, trucks, vehicles, trains coming to Bhopal on Tuesday night are running out of space, reports said.
