MPs want special treatment at airports

MPs want special treatment at airportsNew Delhi: Members of Parliaments of India wants airports and private airlines to offer them special privileges i.e. priority clearances, complementary snacks, facilitation till boarding and advance notice on flight delays.

The demand comes as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his political start-up, the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP, have elicited huge public support for declaring war on the VIP perks bestowed upon, and eagerly exercised, by elected representatives.

Notify that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has banned his ministers from living in the sprawling bungalows they are entitled to. They have also eschewed the use of lal battis or red lights, accompanied by sirens that are placed on politicians’ cars, granting them the right of way.

A senior officer who has now retired had forwarded the requested to private airlines and being re-examined by Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh

Union minister Praful Patel said that if an MP “is given a little respect, I don’t think this should be blown out of proportion.”

“There is nothing to suggest that there is preferential treatment beyond the point that certain courtesies are extended. Every carrier extends courtesies to Commercially Important Persons, along with VIPs,” he added.
