Three Back-to-back cylinder blasts in capital

Three Back-to-back cylinder blasts in capital New Delhi: Three back-to-back incidents of blasts within a span of 20 minutes created a panic-like situation in the Capital on Friday. Senior Delhi Police officers clarified that the incidents involved domestic cylinders and a fridge compressor, and had no link to each other or to a possible terror attack.

Ruling out foul play, a senior Delhi Police officer said a couple and their two children sustained burns after a small LPG cylinder burst inside their rented accommodation in Sunlight Colony in South-East Delhi on Friday.

This cylinder blast was followed by two similar incidents one at Pitampura in North-West Delhi, where a PNG gas pipeline caught fire due to leakage, and the other in Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, where a fridge compressor exploded in a sweet shop.

In the Sunlight Colony incident, a small LPG gas cylinder caught fire while in use around 1 p.m. A couple and their two children suffered burn injuries in the incident. Their landlord told the police about the incident, after which the injured persons were rushed to a hospital.

The Pitampura incident took place when a PNG gas pipeline leaked into a nearby sewer and caught fire, due to which fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The flames were doused soon.
