Jaswant Singh to file nomination of LS Poll from Barmer todayJaipur: Veteran leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Jaswant Singh had announced that he would file nomination papers for Barmer today at 4:30 PM.

Singh said, “Whether as an independent candidate or not will depend on the party’s attitude.”

Notify that Singh is presently represents Darjeeling Lok Sabha. He is upset because party had given the election ticket of Barmer to ex-Congressman Sonaram Chaudhary.

It also had been believed that Sonaram to be in the good books of Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje. Jaswant was born in Barmer’s Jasol village and he wants to contest from his home turf.

The Rajput and Muslim communities are rallying behind Jaswant and could upset the BJP’s game plan in Barmer.

Singh attacked the party leadership, saying, “BJP has been taken over by elements who have never respected the party’s ideology.”

Jaswant, on the remark of Party president Rajnath Singh that his services would be utilised appropriately, said, “I am not a piece of furniture. The choice of the adjective ‘adjust’ itself is indicative of the mentality behind it.”

He also said that he is loyal to his party and didn’t join Congress. “I was born and brought up in BJP and never thought of joining any other party.”

His son Manvendra Singh, an MLA in the Raje government, is likely to follow in his footsteps. But, Manvendra, who skipped a meeting of legislators called by Raje, dismissed the reports suggesting he had conveyed to the party his displeasure over the treatment meted out to his father.

Ram Singh, Manvendra’s secretary said that doctors had advised him a month’s bed rest. “I told the party that I am stressed out and need some rest.”
