Ludhiana police arrest 4 bookies for betting on T20 WC matchChandigarh: Punjab police have confirmed the arrest of four bookies for placing bets on the match between South Africa and New Zealand in the ongoing T20 World Cup tournament in Bangladesh.

The bookies were arrested from Ludhiana with several mobile sets and gadgets.

They had taken rented accommodation where they had set up proper exchange (equipments and gadgets used by bookies). We have seized some 36 mobiles, the exchange, laptop, a dongle and a recorder.

Other details were recovered while they were trying to fix things up for tomorrow’s match between South Africa and New Zealand, said assistant commissioner of police, Ludhiana, Manjit Singh Deshi.

The police are still investigating the case and the role of other bookies from different parts of the country.
