Narendra Modi takes oath as Prime Minister of India

IMG-20140526-WA0007Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the 15th Prime Minister of India on today. Modi along with his Cabinet will take oath at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at 6 PM. around 3,500 Indian and foreign dignitaries will attend the ceremony, including leaders from all the seven SAARC nations.

Narendra Modi said I will not divulge any state secrets unless required based on my duties as Prime Minister. Narendra Modi takes oath as India’s 15th Prime Minister, swears oath of loyalty to India’s Constitution and to the unit and integrity of India. He also swears to carry out his duties and responsibilities as PM and will do justice for everyone without fear or favour. Ceremony begins with the playing of the national anthem.

President Pranab Mukherjee enters the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony. Narendra Modi’s government stands at a total of 46 members, including cabinet ministers and ministers of state.

  • Arun Jaitley takes oath, likely to get Finance Ministry with additional charge of Defence

  • Sushma Swaraj takes oath, likely to get External Affairs Minister. She previously held posts in the Vajpayee Cabinet.

  • Rajnath Singh takes oath as part of Modi’s Cabinet, likely to get Home Ministry.

  • Anand Geete of the Shiv Sena takes oath. The six-term MP is the only Shiv Sena representative in the Cabinet.

  • Ananth Kumar takes oath, is likely to get Chemicals and Fertilisers Ministry.

  • Harsimrat Kaur of the SAD takes oath. The MP from Bathinda is the wife of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister.

  • Narendra Singh Tomar takes oath. He is BJP MP from Gwalior.

  • Jual Oram, BJP MP from Odisha, takes oath. He is the party’s tribal face in that state and was Tribal Affairs Minister in Vajpayee Cabinet.

  • Radha Mohan Singh takes oath. He is likely to get Agriculture Ministry.

  • Smriti Irani takes oath. The Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat is expected to get the important HRD Ministry.

  • Maneka Gandhi takes oath. She has been a minister in four previous governments.

  • Harsh Vardhan takes oath. The Chandni Chowk MP is expected to get Health Ministry.

  • V K Singh is first of the Ministers of State to take oath. The Ghaziabad MP is also a former Army Chief.

  • Rao Inderjit Singh, MP from Gurgaon, takes oath. He had recently quit Congress to join BJP.

  • Santosh Gangwar takes oath. he was a minister in the Vajpayee government.

  • Sripad Naik, Goa MP, takes oath. He was previously minister of state in Vajpayee government.

  • Dharmendra Pradhan takes oath. He is tipped to get the vital Petroleum Ministry.

  • Sarbananda Sonowal takes oath. The BJP MP from Assam is also president of the state unit of the party.

  • Prakash Javadekar takes oath. He is tipped to be Minister for Information and Broadcasting as well as Environment and Forests,

  • Piyush Goyal takes oath. The MP from Maharashtra is likely to be Minister of State for Power.

  • Jitendra Singh, MP from Jammu constituency, takes oath as minister of state.

  • Nirmala Sitharaman takes oath. She is likely to be Minister of State for Commerce.

  • GM siddeshwara takes oath as minister of cabinet.takes oath as a Minister of State

  • Manoj Singh, MP from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, takes oath as minister of state.

  • Nihal Chand takes oath as minister of state. He is the only MP in the new government from Rajasthan.

  • Upendra Kushwaha of the RLSP takes oath as minister of state. He is MP from Bihar.

  • P Radhakrishnan takes oath as minister of state. He is the sole BJP winner from Tamil Nadu.

  • Kiren Rijiju, MP from Arunachal Pradesh, takes oath as minister of state. He is one of the youngest ministers in the new government.

  • K P Gujjar takes oath as minister of state. He is BJP MP from Faridabad and was the party’s state unit president till 2013.

  • Sanjeev Baliyan takes oath as minister of state. The MP from Muzaffarnagar has an FIR against him in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riots of last year.

  • Mansukhbhai Vasava takes oath as minister of state. He is the only other MP from Gujarat after Modi to be in the new government.

  • Raosaheb D P Danve takes oath as minister of state. He is four-time MP from Jalna in Maharashtra.

  • Vishnu Dev Sai takes oath as minister of state. He is MP from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

  • Sudarshan Bhagat takes oath as minister of state. He represents Lohardaga in Jharkhand.

  • Santosh Gangwar takes oath. he was a minister in the cabinet

  • Ashok Gajapathi Raju takes oath, is likely to get Ministry of Civil Aviation

  • Ravi Shankar Prasad takes oath. He was Law Minister in Vajpayee government, is tipped to get the ministry in addition to Telecom this time.

  • Kalraj Mishra takes oath as minister. The veteran MP is from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.

  • Ram Vilas Paswan takes oath as minister. The LJP leader has been Cabinet minister in previous regimes.
