PM Narendra Modi to meet Barack Obama in SeptemberNew Delhi: After surprising everyone by inviting SAARC leaders on the occasion of his swearing-in, PM Narendra Modi has taken yet another significant foreign policy decision by accepting the invitation of US President Barack Obama to visit Washington, report said.

According to reports in two leading dailies, the leaders of the world’s two largest democracies will hold a bilateral meeting in September. Modi will reportedly address the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 26. He is expected to meet Obama around this date only.
The US, which had imposed a visa ban on the former Gujarat chief minister in 2005 in connection with the riots in his state in 2002, changed its course after Modi won the Parliamentary Elections with a superb mandate.

As Modi became the PM, Obama vowed to work closely together with the new Indian Prime Minister for years to come. Obama also vowed to work closely together with Modi’s government to strengthen and expand the US-India strategic partnership.
