125 students bound to swim & cross river to reach school in Gujarat

125 students bound to swim & cross river to reach school in GujaratAhmedabad: Central government come to power after a broad advertisement of Gujarat state development model and its CM Narendra Modi. It was the affect of Gujarat Model that Narendra Modi had been elevated to the PM candidate of NDA and now had become the Prime Minister of India.

But some loop holes and hidden truth of the so called “Gujarat Development Model” had came in the existence which are raising several questions on the development model of Gujarat and real Gujarat.

125 children of 16 villages swim to cross 600 metre wide Hiran river everyday to attend the school which had been located Sevada village. After crossing the river, students have to walk for 5 km to reach the school.

This is the only and nearest school for all the children from these 16 villages. On one hand, the zeal of the students is praiseworthy but on the other, it reveals the apathy of state that claims itself to be one of the most developed in the country.

Children from Sajanpura village, which is about 240 kilometres from Ahmedabad, swim through the river everyday to attend the nearest school.

Boys among students put their cloths and books in a metallic pot to keep their school uniform dry and save books from water but girls can put only books in pot and they attend the school with wet cloths.

Villagers had claimed that they had putted their problem in front of authorities but no action had been taken till now. In 2009, they had putted their problem in front of Narendra Modi but no help had been given from his side also.

Meanwhile district authorities had stated that a bridge had been sanctioned on the river and construction work will be started as soon as state government issue Rs. 13 crore for it.

The main question which arises is this most developed phase of Gujarat where children are putting their life on risk to get the education. Is this the Gujarat Model which had become the bridge for Modi to reach to the chair of PM from the chair of CM of Gujarat?
