DIG Sunil Paraskar, accused of rape with model, suspended for at least 6 monthsMumbai: Maharashtra Government had suspended Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sunil Paraskar for at least six months on Tuesday. Sunil Paraskar is the accused of rape and molestation with a 23-year-old model.

She alleged that DIG Paraskar had molested and sexually assaulted her on two occasions in December 2013. She also claimed that she had met Paraskar first in 2012 when he was Additional Commissioner of Police with regard to a case.

Notify that Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had approved the suspension of Paraskar which had been proposed by the Home Department.

Meanwhile an official said, “We have been verbally told that he (Paraskar) has been suspended, but we are yet to receive the order.”

He also said that Paraskar will be suspended for at least six months and a departmental inquiry will be conducted against him.

Notably, Paraskar is due to retire in 2016.

Mumbai court had recently granted pre-arrest bail to Paraskar after observing that the complainant behaviour and her E-mail exchange with him suggested consent.
