Sridevi made her Bollywood debut with ‘Solva Sawan’ in 1979. In 1983, she starred alongside Jeetendra in ‘Himmatwala’, which went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. She even wowed the audience with her dance number ‘Naino mein sapna’ in the movie. The same year she featured in ‘Sadma’ with Kamal Haasan. The movie brought her critical acclaim.
The actress kept climbing the success ladder and was highly appreciated for her performances. She featured as an icchadhari naagin in the 1986 hit movie ‘Nagina’. She again bowled us with her ‘Main teri dushman’ number.
She has been part of hit movie like Mr. India’, ‘Chaalbaaz’, ‘Chandani’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’, ‘Judaai’. Before announcing her comeback in 2012, Sridevi was last seen on the silver screen in ‘Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin’.
She made her comeback in the industry with Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012. After the movie’s premiere the actress was compared with actresses like Meryl Streep and Audrey Hepburn.
Her performance in the movie was highly appreciated and the critics even called it the best comeback in Bollywood history.
She is married to film producer Boney Kapoor. The couple tied the knot in 1996. They are parents to two beautiful daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. Shining India wishes Sridevi a very happy birthday. Keep smiling.
