Mumbai: Government had denied striping of Padma Shri Award from Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Notify that an RTI activist S C Agrawal had filed a complaint with the Union Home Ministry on March 14 this year, demanding stripping of award as the Mumbai court had framed charges against Saif.
The Home Ministry had replied to Agrawal that “the matter is under examination” over his application to know the status of his complaint.
Official of Home Ministry said, “The home ministry has to call for necessary records from the state government or the courts to validate the charges made in the complaint. This takes time and the merits of the complaint are finally decided on the basis of these records. Until then, technically, the matter is said to be under examination.”
Saif was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2010 for his contribution in the field of art.
