ECI declare 15 October for Assembly polls for Maharashtra & Haryana New Delhi: The Election Commission of India had declared 15 October as the date for Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Chief Election Commissioner SV Sampath said, “Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections will take place on 15th of October, 2014. Notification for polls will be issued on September 20 and last date for filing nomination is September 27.”

The election in both the states will be conducted on a single day. Haryana state has 90 Assembly constituency seats with 17 reserved seats for Schedule Caste (SC) and 9 seats for Schedule tribes (ST). Maharashtra state consists of 288 Assembly seats with 17 reserved for SC and 9 for ST.

He said, “The notification for the election will be issued on September 20, while the last date for filing nomination will be September 27. The Scrutiny of the election applications will be undertaken on September 29.”

​He also said, “Those candidates who want to withdraw their application from the election can withdraw it by October 1, while the counting will be done on October 19.”

Notify that the term of Haryana government ends on 27th October, 2014 whereas, the term of Maharashtra Assembly expires on November 8, 2014.
