ATS book man chatting on FB about blowing up American school in MaharashtraMumbai: The Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra had arrested a person names Anees Ansari, resident of Kurla (west) working in a software solution firm in SEEPZ, Andheri of Mumbai. He had been allegedly found chatting with a person on Facebook about blowing up an American school in Mumbai.

According to ATS, the chats are highly suspicious and it’s being verified whether he has any association with some terrorist group or the other. He has been booked on charges of murder, among other things.

The arrested person, Anees Ansari (24), resides in Kurla (west) area where Indian Mujaheddin founder members Riyaz and brother Iqbal Bhatkal once stayed. The place also has roots of banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi).

Official in Nagpada ATS unit said, “Ansari is a software engineer working with a private computer chip supplying company in SEEPZ, Andheri (E).”

Though no ATS officer came on record about Ansari, sources in the agency told that the social media monitoring lab of the agency which monitors anti-national and unlawful activities on Internet, had been keeping a watch on Ansari’s posts for some time now.

Officer said, “Ansari had opened a fictitious Facebook account and was found chatting with one Shakeel Ahmed about carrying out a blast in an American school in Mumbai.”

The police also reportedly found objectionable pictures and videos on his personal computer as well office computer. ATS has seized both the computers and the hard have been sent for forensic analysis.

The officer said, “On Facebook, he has specifically mentioned about blowing up an American school. We are investigating whether he has links with some radical outfit.”
