Opposition leader of Australia keen to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra ModiMelbourne: The Opposition leader of Australia Bill Shorten had stated that he is looking forward to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notify that PM Modi is scheduled to visit Australia next month to attend G-20 meeting.

Shorten had met with a group of Indian-Australian business leaders here. He said PM Modi was top on his list to meet when the leaders of 20 nations arrive next month.

Modi is scheduled for two-day visit to Australia for G-20 summit in Brisbane starting November 15.

Notify that Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Australia in nearly three decades. Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had visited the country in 1986.

Shorten said, “I m hoping to meet Modi when he visits Australia. He is one of the leader top on my list who I am looking forward to meet.”

Business leaders expressed their concerns on several trade and related issues including education, trade and visa during the meeting.

Australia India Business Council Victoria’s new president Intaj Khan said, “Modi is seen as an economic driven Prime Minister…We would like to see more of business opportunities to be pushed ahead not only from Australia but also from India.”
