Varanasi: After adopting the ghats of Kashi and promising to clean them and remove sand with in a month, people had also clicked photos with Prime Minister Narendra Modi are now disappear. Along with Sulabh international, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, Sanbeam Group and other organisation with their representative had promised to clean the ghats of Kashi but till now only the one where PM Modi had clean ghat by grub ax had been cleaned of “Assi Ghat”.
Organisations, social workers and some people had given the reason of lack of money and resources and distant themselves from cleaning drive of Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 November grab the axe to clear the sand of ghats and accelerate the campaign. At that time Modi asked people about the deadline for the cleaning of ghats to the social workers, officers and Bank Managers. They all promise to clean it with in a month.
13 days had been passed but except Assi ghat no other ghat had been cleaned. Silt of 100-feet-long Assi ghat had been removing but campaign had not been approached to other ghat of Varanasi.
The District Magistrate Pranjal Yadav had been very much disappointed and remind people about their commitment with Prime Minister but people didn’t respond.
Area controller of Sulabh international AK Singh had clarified its stand and said that Sulabh had adopted Assi Ghat. Unearthing had been tooking place due to heavy machineries. They had demanded for machinery but didn’t get it.
He said that they had demanded for more machine and resources to carry sand from DM and the process of cleaning will be started soon.
Senior Manager of Punjab National Bank VK Dubey said that their bank had adopted Ganga Mahal and Reeva Ghat . They had deployed JCB machine but due to unearthing they remove the machine. They will now use animals to remove sand.
Director of Sanbeam Group Deepak Madhok said that digging work in an area of Assi Ghat due to rise in water. They are now removing sand from the upper level. They will use water pump to clean ladders so that people didn’t have to face problem in bath.
