New Delhi: General Secretary of Congress Digvijay Singh said on Thursday over Vyapam Scam probe that he will request to the Supreme Court to order the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry under Special Investigative Team (SIT).
Notify that High Court had already ordered the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to monitor the Vypam Scam probe.
Notable that the Madhya Pradesh Recruitment Scam or the Vyapam Scam pertains to manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), which is being probed by the Special Task Force (STF).
Two FIRs had been launched by STF on December 18 against former State Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and 129 others in connection with alleged irregularities in the examination for the recruitment of Grade II and III Contractual Teachers conducted by MPPEB.
Singh said, “Our objection to the whole case is that the trail of the scam goes up to the Raj Bhawan, goes up to the Chief Minister’s house. Can any police officer of the government of Madhya Pradesh ever do an impartial investigation against the CM’s office or the Raj Bhawan’s office? This is my issue which unfortunately they have not agreed to so we are going to go to SC and request for a CBI investigation under the SIT.”
He also said that they are not very disappointed with the High Court’s order, as what is more important is that who are the people who will be nominated, are they fair?
Singh also said, “We are not very disappointed with the order because they have agreed to have an SIT headed by retired High Court Judge and retired additional DGP. But what is more important is who are these people who are going to be nominated, are they fair, are they impartial or they would be working under the direction of the state government.”
