On #IM’s threat of blast, Home Ministry tells states to be on ‘Very High Alert’ on #US #President #Obama’s visitNew Delhi: Terror group Indian Mujahideen had threatened of blast to Home Minister of Rajasthan and six other ministers on January 26 on the wake of United States President Barack Obama’s visit to India.

Union Home Ministry had issued “very high alert mode” in all the states and directed “heightened possibility” of a terror attack in India until end of January.

Drawing the attention of states to a string of terror attacks across the world in the past few days from Peshawar to Sydney, the home ministry has, in a two-page communique, reminded them that terror groups such as Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba could attempt attacks ahead of Obama’s much publicised visit. The US president will be the chief guest at Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

Earlier the US authorities alerted the Indian government to a LeT strike in the capital, triggering a massive security review in Delhi and its satellite towns.

An IB report on Wednesday was more specific. It said that LeTJamaat-Ud-Dawa combine was trying to target two unspecified hotel lobbies in New Delhi and an unspecified highway between New Delhi and Agra. Obama will be staying in a 5-star hotel in Delhi during his visit and is expected to visit Agra.

“Reference is made to the ghastly terrorist incident in Peshawar, the hostage incident in Sydney, recent developments related to ISIS both in India and Middle-East and heightened possibility of terrorist attack in the light of ensuing visit of US President Barack Obama to India. Incidents and developments mentioned above warrant immediate attention of all intelligence and law enforcement agencies across India,” the home ministry’s twopage communique to states.

It also added, “Till the end of January, the security forces and intelligence agencies need to remain on very high alert mode to prevent untoward incidents witnessed elsewhere in neighbourhood as well as other parts of the world.”
