#BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said #Dhoni could continue playing till 2019#NewDelhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Sanjay Patel had cleared that captain of Indian Cricket team for One-Day Internationals Mahendra Singh Dhoni could play on till 2019.

BCCI Secretary in an interview said that that Dhoni had to take the tough call since it was taking a toll on his body.

Patel said, “We wanted him to carry for long, for at least two more years… But he had decided it. Now my personal assessment is that with the Test retirement, he can play on till 2019.”

He also point out that Virat Kohli is now leading the Test team and it would give birth to two centres.

He admitted, “It will help in the longer run. There is nothing like a power centre. Cricket is being played by two groups. One who go out there in the field and do their job and the others are the administrators who do their job outside the field. Having two captains will in fact strengthen our team, we will have two new ideas on the floor.”

Notify that Dhoni had suddenly announced his retirement after third Test against Australia and shock everyone. In the series of four Test, Australia had already lead in two with third Test had been draw and last Test will be in Sydney from 6 January.
