#Budget session in #Parliament likely to be #extended for 2 daysNew Delhi: The reports of the Select Committees on the Coal Bill and the Mines and Minerals Bill were tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday morning. The Congress and the Left Parties have submitted lhdissent notes to both reports.

The government is mulling the decision to extend the Parliament as bills including ones replacing Land Acquisition Ordinance, mines and minerals and coal are yet to be passed. While the bills have been passed in Lok Sabha, they are yet to get approval in Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, the bills on mines and minerals and coal were referred to the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha.

The government is likely to extend the budget session for two more days which ends on March 20. If the ordinances are not converted into bills by April 2, they will lapse. A meeting to discuss the same was held by the Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) meeting held today morning.

The government is confident that it will be able to pass the two Bills despite the opposition of the Congress and the Left Parties, as it has the support of the Trinamool Congress and the Biju Janata Dal, and it has breached the ranks of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
