Major parties including #BJP and #Congress get #bumper #fund in this #General #Election, BJP declare its expense of 712.48 crore in 75 days of election periodNew Delhi: The major national political parties had collected the record four fold rise of fund over the last 10 years during this Lok Sabha election which were held in 2014.

In manner of collection and expenditure, BJP had exceeded the rival parties during 75-day long poll campaign for the general election.

The data which had been submitted by various political parties to the Election Commission over their election fund collection and expenditure had revealed the situation.

The fund had been collected by cash, cheque or demand draft or in kind during the Lok Sabha elections held in 2004 was Rs223.80 crore.

The amount rose to Rs 854.89 crore in 2009 Lok Sabha elections, showing an increase of 282% and Rs 1158.59 crore in 2014 general elections.

Two NGOs National Election Watch and Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) had analysis the figures over a period of 10 years which revealed that the funds collected by National Parties during the Lok Sabha polls increased by 418%. National Parties considered for analysis are BJP, Congress, BSP, NCP, CPI, and CPM.

In 2014, BJP declared the highest amount of funds. The party declared collecting Rs 588.45 crore over 75 days of election period.

Congress declared collection of Rs 350.39 crore, followed by NCP with Rs 77.85 crore and BSP with Rs 77.26 crore. CPI declared the least funds collected at Rs 9.52 crore.

Against the collections, the parties incurred total expenditure of Rs 1308.75 crore, showing an increase of 386% over the past 10 years.

BJP had declared the highest poll expenditure incurred during the Lok Sabha elections, 2014.

The Saffron party had declared expenses of Rs 712.48 crores over 75 days of election period. Congress incurred Rs 486.21 crore, followed by NCP (Rs 64.48 crore) and BSP (Rs 30.06 crore).

Notify that the last date of filing of election expenditure statement for National Parties was August 13, which was 90 days from the election results were declared.

EC meanwhile received the statement of the expenditure of BJP in January, 2015, Congress on December 22, 2014, BSP well in time on August 8, 2014, NCP on August 22, 2014; CPI on October 14, 2014 and CPM filed expenditure statements on August 25, 2014.
