Dr #BRAmbedkar 124th #birthanniversary todayNew Delhi: Marking the 124th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, Google today changed its doodle to an image of the revolutionary Indian leader. The doodle is featuring in 7 countries apart from India across 3 continents, including Argentina, Chile, India, Ireland, Peru, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom

Elphinstone College at Fort, of which Ambedkar was an alumnus, somehow misses his name in the list of ‘illustrious Elphinstonians’ on a plaque of alumni between 1856 to 1956. Besides a flex banner announcing his birth anniversary — a new addition, according to the watchmen — the college has no visible memory of Ambedkar ever having been there.

Congress wanted to launch the celebrations in a big way, but Rahul’s unavailability forced it to redraw the schedule. Sources said the Congress vice-president was expected to return on Monday, but it now appears that he may return on Wednesday.

The doodle which shows an image of Babasaheb is a tribute to the Father of the Indian constitution who was a front face in the Indian freedom movement and an ardent social reformer who stood for Dalit rights and women’s empowerment.Ambedkar who passed away in 1952 had made an unparalleled contribution to the formation of India. Various Indian politicians also took this occasion to pay their respects to the late leader.
