#AIADMK chief #Jayalalithaa to sworn in as #CM of Tamil Nadu againChennai: AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa to swear in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu again. She will step out of her Poes Garden residence in Chennai at exactly 1.28 this afternoon and will drive to the Raj Bhawan, about 10 kilometres away, where she will meet Governor K Rosaiah, who has invited her to be chief minister of Tamil Nadu again.

Jayalalithaa had been expected to be sworn in with her council of ministers at about 11 am tomorrow, eight months after she had to resign when a Bangalore court convicted her in a corruption case.

Jayalalithaa will head out to garland the status of AIADMK leaders, starting with founder MG Ramachandran’s statue at Anna Salai from the Raj Bhawan.

People have already started queuing up at the statue to catch a glimpse of Ms Jayalalithaa or ‘Amma’.

O Panneerselvam resigned as chief minister early on Friday morning soon after 144 of the AIADMK’s 150 lawmakers met at the party headquarters in Chennai to unanimously elect Ms Jayalalithaa as the leader of the legislature party.

Ms Jayalalithaa was in the middle of her third term as chief minister when she was sent to jail in September last year. Forced to resign, she picked O Panneerselvam, a man who has for years demonstrated unwavering loyalty, as stand-in chief minister.

Mr Panneerselvam had wept through the swearing-in ceremony.

On May 11, Ms Jayalalithaa was found not guilty of illicitly amassing wealth adding up to nearly Rs. 50 crore by the Karnataka High Court.
