BJP’s #SmritiIrani visits #RahulGandhi’s #constituency, holds #KisanPanchayat’ in #Amethi

BJP's #SmritiIrani visits #RahulGandhi's constituency, holds #KisanPanchayat' in #AmethiAmethi: Sparking a political fight, HRD minister & senior BJP leader Smriti Irani on Tuesday visited Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s constituency Amethi. However, the Gandhi scion, reacting to Irani’s Amethi visit, later said, “I hope that she gets the food park back.

During her visit to Amethi today, Smriti targeted Rahul and reportedly said that the Amethi MP is missing and the people of his constituency might get to see him if he follows her footsteps.

The less said about him (Rahul Gandhi) the better, he could have brought in benefits long ago when he was in power, she was quoted by. She added that the promises made by the “three generations of Congress” can only be fulfilled by the Narendra Modi government.

She also informed them about the ”Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana” (PMSBY) and said that the insurance of poor families will start from May 26, which also marks the completion of one-year of PM Narendra Modi’s government.

The HRD Minister added that around 25,000 BPL citizens will be insured in the PMSBY scheme. Smriti’s visit comes just days after she had attacked the Congress vice president for ignoring his constituency for the last 10 years.

It may be recalled that the BJP leader had lost to the Congress vice president from Amethi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress has decided to oppose the visit of the Union minister over the cancellation of the Amethi food park project.

The food park issue was raised in Lok Sabha by Rahul Gandhi who attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of practising “politics of revenge”. Smriti had, however, hit back at Rahul alleging he had ignored his constituency when Congress was in power at the Centre.

“The food park was announced in 2010, when the Congress government was at the Centre. Eight extensions were sought for the project as it was not considered viable. But did the MP take even eight steps to make the project a reality,” Smriti had said without naming the Congress vice president.
