#MPgovernment demands #Ramdev’s #DivyaPutrajeevakBeej' to be renamed, bans it for nowBhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government today banned the sale of controversial medicine. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government has asked Patanjali Yogapeeth to first change the name of the medicine then only will it give permission to sell the product in the state.

The Rajya Sabha witnessed uproar last week when Opposition members raised the issue of infertility medicine ‘Divya Putrajeevak Beej’. After facing flak from all quarters, the Patanjali Yogapeeth stated that a disclaimer will be put on the product, claiming it is for women and has nothing to do with sex determination.

Ramdev said that people who are making the allegations have no knowledge of ayurveda. He said a disclaimer will be added on the package of the medicine ‘Putrajeevak Beej’ that it does not promise a male child and claimed it is named so after the scientific name of the herb ‘Putranjiva roxburghii Wall’.

Further clarifying on the matter, Ramdev said the medicine helps a childless couple conceive and has nothing to do with sex determination of a child before birth. The yoga guru also refused to change the name of the medicine.

Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader KC Tyagi had raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, saying “PM gave a call for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’…and there is this medicine to determine sex”.The opposition had demanded to ban the purported ayurvedic product in Upper House while terming it as illegal and unconstitutional and sought stringent action against the manufacturers.
