#Muslim youth allegedly denied for job due to religious #discrimination in #MumbaiMumbai: A leading newspaper on Thursday reported that a Muslim youth had accused a Mumbai-based diamond export company for allegedly accusing him of religious discrimination after the company had denied employment opportunity to him because he follows Islam.

MBA graduate Zeshan Ali Khan was looking for a job in a leading export house and sent his resume to Hare Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd.

The reply he got from the company that has a global presence shocked him.

It reportedly read, “Thanks for your application. We regret to inform you that we hire only non-Muslim candidates.”

Khan told the daily that most of his friends who too had applied at the same company were immediately given jobs. He, however, got a reply which he had never expected.

Khan later narrated his experience on Facebook and consequently received a ‘regret’ mail from the company after his social media post generated sharp reactions.

The Associate VP and HR Head Mahendra S Deshmukh wrote to Khan: “We would like to clarify that the company does not discriminate against candidates based on gender, caste, religion, etc. Any hurt caused in the matter is deeply regretted.”

Deshmukh also wrote, “This erroneous email was sent by my colleague Mrs Dipika Tike who has joined recently and is still on training.”
