New Delhi: Government on Thursday sound high alert two days after the Indian Army carried out the surgical strike inside Myanmar as it had been reported that NSCN-K had been entered in India for revenge attack.
Notify that Special Forces of the army in coordination with the air force had on Tuesday carried out a surgical strike inside Myanmar in the first such cross-border operation, killing nearly 20 insurgents of the groups believed to be responsible for the deadly ambush in Manipur that killed 18 soldiers.
Elite commandos of the army equipped with assault rifles, rocket launchers, grenades and night vision goggles, went a few kilometers inside the Myanmar territory to destroy two camps of insurgents hiding there after their attacks in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh last week by NSCN(K) and KYKL outfits.
The actual operation (hitting the camp and destroying it) took about 40 minutes. Not only did the commandos kill those present at the camps in gun fight, during which rocket launchers were also used, one of the camp was also set afire.
