Imphal: Militants had killed ten army personnel in an ambush in the Chandel district of Manpur on Thursday.
The jawans belonging to 6 Dogra Regiment were caught unawares when militants opened fire on their convoy close to Motul in Chandel district. They were travelling towards state capital Imphal.
The yet unidentified militants laid that ambush at around 8:30 am. The area comes under Tengnoupal Police Station.
Though they retaliated, the army unit suffered heavy casualties with 10 men losing their lives and 12 other suffering injuries.
The dead included 1 Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), 1 SIG constable, 1 Army Service Cops driver. 12 others were left injured in this incident.
