More than 400 #died in #Pakistan by #heatstrokeIslamabad: More than 400 people have died in Southern Pakistani port city of Karachi from heatstroke in last three days. Health director Zafar Ejaz confirmed today the death of at least 413 by heatstroke.

Spokesperson for Jinnah Hospital Seemi Jamali said that hundreds more are being treated for heat-related ailments, including fever and dehydration, and the city mortuaries are running short of space.

She said most of the deaths have been among the elderly.

Provincial Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has closed schools and public offices until the heatwave cools off.

Meteorologist Mohammad Hanif said the current heatwave is rare, with temperatures soaring to 45C (113F), and he predicts rain in the coming days to bring some relief.
