Narendra Modi is set to meet Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, Modi’s #Bangladesh Two day Visit:#Dhakah:  Representatives from the Adani Group as well as Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s Reliance Power are also part of the visit to sign the key projects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda for the two-day visit to Bangladesh will include, apart from the Land Boundary Agreement, inking of two mega power project deals in Dhaka on Saturday.
Representatives from the Adani Group as well as Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s Reliance Power are also part of the visit to sign the key projects. While Adani Group will seal the deal for two power projects — one in Bangladesh and one in India — for 1,500 MW capacity, Reliance Power will ink an agreement for a 3,000-MW project in Bangladesh.

The plans for the power projects are in line with Modi’s vision of building an EU-modelled economic zone connecting Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan with India. The two projects are expected to help Bangladesh achieve its 20,000-MW target by 2020. The projects will also help ease a 7,000-MW power deficiency in the country.

The projects were originally to be signed off before or after the Prime Minister’s visit, but Dhaka insisted that the pacts be inked during the two-day tour. While a senior vice president from Reliance Power will be signing the deal on behalf of the organisation, Gautam Adani, who has been an unofficial part of most of the Prime Minister’s delegations abroad, will be personally in attendance to ink the pact.
The much-delayed Land Boundary Agreement of 1974 will be finally ratified in Mamata Banerjee’s presence at Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s office. Bus services on the Kolkata-#Dhaka- #Agartala and #Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati routes will also be flagged off, as part of increasing “connectivity” and promoting “greater people-to-people ties”.
