Over 70 dead and hundreds stranded in #Gujarat due to heavy rainAhmedabad: The situation in Gujarat is getting worst as more than 70 people had been died due to heavy rainfall followed by flood like situation, including 26 casualties in worst affected Amreli district.

Notify that Southwest Monsoon hurrying across over entire India except western Rajasthan, the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in several states on Friday.

With Monsoon further advancing into north Arabian Sea and most parts of north and west India, heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand, Himacahal Pradesh, West Bengal, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Assam today.

The southwest Monsoon is said to be fast advancing into remaining parts of the Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himacahal Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana, Delhi and some parts of Rajasthan.

According to the met office, the southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over east Rajasthan, Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch regions.

The government of Gujarat had meanwhile announced Rs 4 lakh each as compensation to families of the deceased.

Health Minister of Gujarat and spokesperson of the government Nitin Patel said, “We have decided to give a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to families of all the deceased. In addition, we have also decided to give cash doles for the next ten days to people in affected areas.”
