New Delhi: Pledging to push reforms and resolve tax disputes, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said the main challenge was to kick-start the manufacturing sector even as the services sector growth has to be accelerated to absorb surplus labour engaged in agriculture.
If we can handle that problem and its ability to absorb a number of people coming from rural India then India’s growth story can be much larger, he added. Jaitley, however, asserted that the service sector is doing well and always has been in the vicinity of double digit growth.
“The growths in the other sectors are directly going to impact on it”, he added. He said the government is working towards improving the ease of doing business in the country. He also impressed upon the need of attracting more investment to the manufacturing sector. We will try over the next few days to put to sleep many of the pending tax disputes”, he added
