Bihar polls: Jaitley mocks Nitish on development; says Gujarat number 1, Bihar at 21NEW DELHI:  Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley launched a scathing attack against the Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance on Monday. Launching a scathing attack on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday cited the recent World Bank’s recent survey on state-wise ease of doing business ranking. “Nitish ji says lets debate on the issue of development. What is there to debate? Gujarat is number 1, and Bihar stands at 21,” Jaitley mocked.  We will win Bihar polls. It will be a repeat of what happened during Lok Sabha polls,” Jaitley said.

He also slammed Nitish for allying with Congress for the Bihar polls. Jaitley attacked those doing politics in Lohia’s name of having destroyed his legacy for power by aligning with Congress in Bihar polls. “Those who do politics in the name of Lohia ji, are now visiting AICC for press conferences everyday.”
Partners of Bihar’s Grand Alliance -RJD, JD(U) and Congress -moved the EC demanding a ban on the PM’s radio b

roadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ till the Bihar elections are over. They contended that the PM using the All India Radio to announce programmes and policies during the Bihar polls would be “violation of the mode code of conduct” as broadcast through the official mass media -AIR -amounts to “misuse of official machinery” and “violation of the principle of level playing field” during the campaign.  ..

The opposition delegation that petitioned the EC comprised Randeep Surjewala, Abhishek Singhvi, LC Mittal (Congress), KC Tyagi, Pawan Varma (JD-U) and Manoj Jha (RJD). They said they have told the EC that steps should be taken to bar the national broadcast of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ till the Bihar polls as they apprehended the PM would deliberately make some policy announcements for Bihar during his broadcast with an aim to influence voters.
