Eid al-Adha 2015: Bollywood celeb wishes Eid Mubarak on social mediaMumbai: The Muslim community around the world is celebrating Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakr Eid or Bakrid. Although the “feast of sacrifice” is being celebrated on 24 September globally, most states in India will celebrate the festival a day later (25 September).

Muslim devotees celebrate Eid al-Adha by offering prayers and slaughtering animals. This is the second most important Muslim festival, which is observed on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah — the 12th month in the Islamic calendar. Several celebrities and politicians have wished people on social media. Even Bollywood celebs have wished ‘Eid Mubarak’ on social media.

B-town wishes Eid Mubarak

  • Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Madhuri Dixit Nene among others who have wished their fans Eid Mubarak. Bachchan, 72, shared a picture on Twitter and wrote, “Eid Mubarak! Peace, well being, happiness and love… To all.”
  • Shah Rukh, who is shooting for Rohit Shetty’s“Dilwale”, tweeted, “Wishing everyone a happy Eid Al Adha. May all have Allah’s mercy and blessings, health and happiness.”
  • Priyanka, 33, said, “Eid Mubarak to everyone who celebrates around the world… May Allah bless us with peace and tolarence…”
  • “Eid Mubarak everyone! I Wish everyone peace, happiness and prosperity,” Madhuri wrote.
  • Anushka, who is filming Karan Johar’s next“Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, wrote, “Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating! May his light shine upon all of us. Have a beautiful day guys!”
  • “Eid mubarak! Wishing all love, happiness and all that you pray for,” Sonakshi Sinha tweeted.
  • Actor Arjun Rampal wrote, “Laugh as much as you breathe, love as much as you live and celebrate like there is no tomorrow. Eid Mubarak everyone.”

  • Bollywood composer Vishal Dadlani, of Vishal-Shekhar duo, wrote, “I love that Eid is coincident with the Ganesh festival. We can all celebrate both, and celebrate each other too. Jai Hind!”
  • Actress Soha Ali Khan wrote, “Wishing all of you and your families a happy and safe Eid Mubarak — may it be filled with joy, peace and love.”

Muslim devotees all over the globe celebrate Eid al-Adha on Thursday, 24 September. The second most important Muslim festival after Eid ul-Fitr is observed on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.

Also known as Bakr Eid, the Greater Eid commemorates the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his only son Ishmael on God’s command.

Many south Indian celebs, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Dulquer Salmaan and others have wished their fans on Eid through their official social media handles.
