PM Narendra Modi leaves for 7-day foreign tour, Ireland first and then the US

PM Narendra Modi leaves for 7 day visit to Ireland and USNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi early Wednesday morning left for a two-nation trip to Ireland and the United States, during which he will also address the annual United Nations General Assembly meet.

“Working westward. PM @narendramodi departs on a 2 nation, 3 city visit to Ireland & the US, will address the @UN,” tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup. Modi will spend Wednesday in Ireland where he will hold discussions with Prime Minister Enda Kenny. He will depart for New York the same evening for the US leg of his tour.

PM Modi’s first stop on his seven-day visit will be Ireland – this will be the first prime ministerial visit to that country in almost six decades. PM Modi will hold talks with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny in capital Dublin. Shortly before leaving for Dublin, PM Modi tweeted this morning:

We hope to further develop strong people-to-people and economic ties with Ireland in the years to come,” he had said earlier. PM Modi will also have a brief interaction with the Indian community before leaving for New York in the evening.

The Prime Minister will also be meeting several world leaders and have interactions with leading investors and financial sector firms. There will be a working dinner where top leadership of major Fortune 500 companies will be present to deliberate on investment opportunities in India. Modi will also travel to West Coast where he will visit Facebook headquarters for a Townhall Q&A with its CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He will also visit Google campus and Tesla Motors.

In San Jose, the PM will interact with the Indian community on September 27. This visit seeks to build on the substantial ground covered during my last visit to USA and President Obama’s visit to India early this year,” Modi has said. I am sure my US visit will be fruitful and further deepen the bond between the world’s oldest and largest democracies,” he added.
