The infighting in the Karnataka Congress came to the fore when the party’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited the drought-hit regions in the state recently. A few MLAs even submitted memorandum to Rahul seeking change of CM. As many as 15 ministers even skipped meeting Rahul, indicating that Siddaramaiah had lost their faith.

“Soniaji had asked for a detailed status report from Krishna. Siddaramaiah has committed several blunders in handling drought, power crisis, farmers’ problems and investors’ concerns in the last two years. Siddaramaiah will have to do a lot of explaining,” sources in the Congress said.

There are speculations that Siddaramaiah might be replaced by year end because of his performance as the CM. This is for the second time in the last two months that Sonia Gandhi is summoning Siddaramaiah because of infighting in the party.
