External affairs Minister #SushmaSwaraj has multiple infections, will stay hospitalised #NewDelhi : India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who is being treated for pneumonia in a private ward in the Cardio-Neurosciences Centre of New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), is stable.
She is likely to remain admitted for a few days.#SushmaSwaraj, 64, was admitted to AIIMS at 4pm on Monday with complaints of severe chest congestion and chest pain. “She is under treatment for fever, chest congestion with features of pneumonia. A medical team of specialists is looking after her. Her current condition is stable,” the hospital said in a statement.

Sushma Swaraj has long-standing diabetes, which makes infection management critical. She underwent a series of tests recommended by a medical board comprising a team of multi-specialists, including cardiologists, pulmonologists and endocrinologists. Swaraj was initially admitted to the hospital’s old private ward and was later moved to the CN Centre on Monday night.

“There is nothing to worry about. We had admitted her into one of our private wards under a team of multi-specialists but later moved to the cardio-neurosciences centre. She has been put on antibiotics and is doing fine. We are waiting for all the test reports to know the exact picture,” said a senior doctor.
