#HarsimratKaur should first declassify her family’s assets, says #Manpreet Singh Badal #Chandigarh : A day after Union food processing minister and Bathinda member of Parliament Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal
sought declassification of documents related to Operation Bluestar, Congress leader Manpreet Badal asked her to first declassify papers related to her family’s assets, which, he said, were multiplying every year. Manpreet was here to take stock of the wheat procurement.

“How is it possible? Are they cousins of Bill Gates or have they studied from some special university that the wealth of Harsimrat and chief minister Badal is going up by crores every year?” Manpreet said.

“Manpreet te Sukhbir tan ikko parivar de bande si… eh kive ho sakda ohde kol arban di jaydad hove te mai lakha ch hi aa…bas ehi fark hai ki mai sarkari khzaane di loot ni kiti te haram de paise val nai jhankea (Manpreet and Sukhbir were from the same family… how is it possible that Sukhbir has earned crores and my assets are still in lakhs…The only difference is that I didn’t loot the government exchequer or cared for the ill-gotten money),” he said.

Manpreet said people have now understood the ‘tamasha’ of SAD government that has the habit of raising such issues during elections to take the public glare off the real issues. “This, however, is going to be Akali Dal’s last ‘tamasha’,” Manpreet said.

Eradication of drugs main agenda

Manpreet, who is part of the team finalising the manifesto of the Congress party for the 2017 polls, said the document will lay a roadmap for first 100 days of governance and eradication of drugs will be the main agenda.

“Starting with a campaign against drugs, the Congress party will focus on a new issue every day for first 100 days, after coming to power,” said Manpreet.

Manpreet Badal said the Congress government will nab drug smugglers and dealers to eradicate the menace from Punjab. “We will confiscate all their (drug smugglers’) assets, which will be used for the rehabilitation of drug addicts,” he said.

SAD-BJP conspired against Sehajdharis

Terming passage of Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha a conspiracy of the SAD-BJP alliance government to deprive Sehajdhari Sikhs of voting rights in the elections to religious bodies, including Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Manpreet said about 80% of the total Sikh population, including him, comprised Sehajdharis.

“The government does not want to lose control over the gurdwaras. If the government is debarring Sehajdharis from voting, it should also not let them pay obeisance in gurdwaras,” Manpreet said.

Manpreet Badal  visited about a dozen grain markets in Moga and surrounding districts. He was accompanied by a number of party leaders, including Malti Thapar, Harjot Kamal, Ravi Grewal, Vinod Bansal and Ravinder Singh Dhaliwal. By Agencies.
