Amar Singh alleged threat to his life from SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav

Amar Singh alleged threat to his life from SP leader Ram Gopal YadavNew Delhi: Amid a bitter and very public turf battle in the ruling Samajwadi Party, Amar Singh on Thursday alleged threat to his life from SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav.

Breaking his silence on the ongoing feud in the Yadav clan, Singh said he would have a word with the Home Minister and seek protection.

“I have two young daughters and at present now I am scared after Ram Gopal Yadav’s threatening statement,” Amar Singh said.

Amar Singh dismissed all the reports saying that he was responsible for the alleged tussle between Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav.

Singh, who is considered to be close confidante of Shivpal, expressed disappointment over Akhilesh’s ‘dalal’ comment.

In an attempt to prove his loyalty towards SP and Akhilesh, Singh recalled the earlier days saying, “When Akhilesh’s entire family was opposing his marriage with Dimple Yadav, I was the only one, who supported him,” adding that “There is no photo of his (Akhilesh) wedding where this ‘dalal’ is not there,” Amar Singh said with a heavy heart.

“I may not be with CM Akhilesh, but I will always be with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh,” Amar Singh asserted.

“If sacrificing my life would end the fight within the Samajwadi Party, I am ready for it,” the Rajya Sabha MP maintained.

In the ongoing ugly unprecedented faction fighting in UP’s ruling SP and the Yadav family, Akhilesh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav are on one side, while Shivpal Yadav and Amar Singh are on the other. Recently, party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav publicly pulled up his son Akhilesh Yadav at a meeting which ended on a fiery note with sacked minister Shivpal Yadav calling Akhilesh a “liar”.

The Shivpal and Akhilesh factions within the once united party came to blows ahead of the meeting called by Mulayam Singh on Monday, who made it clear that he would never let go either his brother Shivpal Yadav or long-time aide Amar Singh, who the Chief Minister intensely dislikes.

The Monday meeting was a desperate attempt by Mulayam Singh to stamp his authority on the Samajwadi Party ahead of crucial assembly elections early next year but it could not do away with the bitterness within.

On Sunday, the Samajwadi Party appeared headed for a split as CM Akhilesh Yadav ousted uncle Shivpal Yadav and three others from the government, while the party brass sacked his backer and MP Ram Gopal Yadav from the party in an intensifying dynastic power struggle ahead of next year’s election.
