“A committee has been formed by the Vice-Chancellor on this. They have been asked to submit a report within 72 hours,” said Zeeshan Ahmed, the university’s Public Relation Ofiice.

On Friday, March 30, images of two patients lying on the bed with their hands and legs tied in the Emergency ward of AMU’s medical college. The patients were grievously injured in a Railway accident.

Explaining the situation, Chief Medical Officer SH Zaidi said, “They are being treated by senior doctors. Our beds don’t have side guards. The patients don’t have any relative with them and our staff can also not sit here all the time. So, we have tied them to the bed to stop them from falling.”

Later, one of the patients died.

“One patient died as he suffered severe injury in the head. Other patient is recovering well,”  Zaidi said on Sunday.

An probe was launched into the incident with Aligarh DM CB Singh saying, “I have asked the ADM City to ascertain all facts, have also asked the Principal for his reply on this.”
