PM #Modi warning to #BJP MPs not to cross #lakshman rekhaNew Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today asked all BJP parliamentarians not to cross ‘lakshman rekha’ while airing their views, in fallout of the recent controversial remarks made by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Sakshi Maharaj.

Modi talked tough to his party MPs at the BJP’s parliamentary party meeting which is held every Tuesday when Parliament is in session. He made it clear no one should cross the line or the ‘laxman rekha’.

At the BJP parliamentary board meeting held this morning, PM Modi strictly advised BJP MPs not to cross ‘lakshman rekha’ in their remarks and instead focus on development. He also again issued a stern warning to MPs who have been coming late to Parliament or party meetings.

Today also, several MPs, including ministers, arrived late for the parliamentary board meeting.

As regards the warning relating to airing views, the PM’s advice came after Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Sakshi Maharaj’s controversial remarks put the party in the dock, both inside and outside Parliament.

While Niranjan Jyoti had used abusive words to describe opposition leaders while calling on voters in Delhi to vote for the party, Sakshi Maharaj, on the other hand, had called Nathuram Godse, who had killed Mahatma Gandhi, as a ‘patroit’. While Niranjan Jyoti later apologised in Parliament for her remarks, Sakshi Maharaj was forced to withdraw his remarks in Lok Sabha and expressed regret.
