Lucknow: Allahabad High Court had given a hard hit to the government of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party. High Court said that Akhilesh Yadav’s government of UP cannot withdraw terror cases without the confirmation of Centre. As the government of UP withdrew terror cases against 19 Muslims, the High Court had given order and asked to the state government about the legality of this action.
Lucknow bench of High Court said that the permission of Centre was needed as the accused were booked under Central acts. So the Uttar Pradesh government cannot withdraw the cases, the court ruled.
Notify that Samajwadi Party had promised to review terror charges against innocent Muslim youngsters in its manifesto in 2012 Assembly elections.
Later on after coming in power, Samajwadi Party had announced that they would withdraw cases against the accused in the 2007 serial blasts in Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad. The state government had claimed that those accused in the cases had been jailed for a long time and investigators had failed to file chargesheets while recommending the withdrawal cases.
