MUMBAI: Hitting out at the opposition parties for coming together to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Friday said: “Cats, goose, dogs and mongoose are in a huddle to fight PM Narendra Modi.” Shah made the statement while addressing the party’s 38th Foundation Day rally in Mumbai.
He also blamed the opposition parties for not letting Parliament function. “PM Modi ensured that the Parliament functions smoothly but the opposition did not let that happen. Today, Parliament adjourned sine die,” the BJP president said. Both Houses of Parliament were on Friday adjourned sine die, with unabated protests virtually washing out the Budget Session. A total of nearly 250 working hours were wasted in this session due to adjournments.
Hitting out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he questioned what their party had done in the last 40 years when they were in power. “Rahul Gandhi asks us for a report card for 4 years. I want to tell him that the country is asking you what your party has done in the last 40 years,” he said.
Shah also made the party’s stand on reservations clear by stating that they will not abolish quota and will never let anyone do so as well.
Applauding the party workers, he said that the BJP members have made many sacrifices for the country over the years. “The party began with just 10 members and today we have 11 crore people associated with the party. In the history of India, BJP workers have made the maximum sacrifice for the country,” he said.
The BJP on Friday kickstarted its campaign for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections with a massive show of strength on its 38th Foundation Day in Mumbai. party workers from across the country had gathered to attend the event in the city.
