Delhi child rape: Second suspect pradeep kumar arrested in Bihar

New Delhi, 23rd April: The second suspect Pradeep kumar in the brutal rape case of the five-year-old girl, who is under treatment at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Capital, was arrested at Lakhisarai in Bihar in the early hours of Monday.

Nineteen-year-old Pradeep Kumar was tracked down to his maternal uncle’s place at Barahiya village and arrested around 1.30 a.m.

Pradeep Kumar was produced before Lakhisarai Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishnu Dev Upadhay who sent him to 15-days transit remand to Delhi Police.

Speaking to the media, accused Pradeep confessed to his involvement, stating that he had committed a “grave mistake”.

At a press conference in Patna later, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Ravindra Kumar said Pradeep had been working as a construction labourer in Delhi for the past four years.

The main accused Manoj Kumar, 22, was earlier arrested from his in-laws house in Chitkouna village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. He was flown to Delhi in a chartered plane and is being interrogated by police.

While the protest against police apathy in the case continued in different parts in the Capital. Doctors of AIIMS said the victim’s condition is improving and showing signs of gradual recovery.
