Nashik: Days after the TCS Nashik case came to light, TCS MD and CEO K Krithivasan issued a statement on Friday in which the company clarified that Nida Khan, who is being repeatedly mentioned in the press as the HR manager of TCS, is neither an HR manager nor responsible for recruitment. She served as a process associate and did not hold any leadership responsibilities.
“Ms Nida Khan who is being repeatedly mentioned in the press as HR manager of TCS, is neither HR manager nor responsible for recruitment. She served as a process associate and did not hold any leadership responsibilities,” read a statement issued by K Krithivasan, CEO and MD, TCS.
Notably, Nida Khan has been in the spotlight as a central figure in the alleged coercion and sexual harassment case at the TCS-linked BPO facility in Nashik, Maharashtra. Authorities have described her as the alleged mastermind behind efforts to coerce Hindu women employees into religious conversions, amid serious claims of sexual harassment and exploitation.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are investigating her possible links to extremist networks, including potential connections with Dr. Shaheen Shahid (also known as Shaheen Saini or Shahid). Shaheen Shahid faces accusations related to the Delhi Red Fort blast case and is reportedly linked to the women’s wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
TCS MD and CEO K. Krithivasan also said that the company has not received any complaints of the nature that are being alleged on either its ethics or POSH channels related to the Nashik case.
“While detailed reviews are still underway, a preliminary review of the systems and records pertaining to the Nashik unit indicates that we have not received any complaints of the nature that are being alleged on either our ethics or POSH channels,” the statement read.
TCS is taking the allegations raised in the Nashik matter very seriously and has initiated a formal internal investigation.
TCS MD and CEO K. Krithivasan stated that, to ensure the investigation is impartial, thorough, and credible, the company has engaged two renowned external experts—Deloitte (a top global consulting and auditing firm) and Trilegal (a leading Indian law firm).
These two entities will serve as independent counsel to assist in the investigation. The internal investigation is being led by TCS President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Aarthi Subramanian.
Additionally, TCS has constituted a high-level oversight committee chaired by Keki Mistry (an Independent Director on the TCS Board). This committee will review the final findings of the investigation and determine what steps should be taken or which recommendations should be implemented.
“We have engaged the services of expert teams from Deloitte and a prominent law firm Trilegal as independent counsel to the internal investigation led by Ms. Aarthi Subramanian, President and COO, TCS. We have constituted an Oversight committee chaired by Mr Keki Mistry, Independent Director of TCS. The findings of the internal investigation will be presented to the Oversight committee for review and implementation of any recommendations,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Nida Khan, who is absconding, has filed a plea in a local court in Nashik seeking relief on the grounds of her pregnancy, in to the case involving allegations of sexual harassment and forced conversion at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO facility.
Khan (25) has been absconding since a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to take over the investigation into the TCS case, and she has remained outside the jurisdiction ever since. It is reported that her family is currently in Mumbai and claims her absence is due to her pregnancy; it is anticipated that her lawyers will present this as an argument to seek protection from arrest.
