The 18th Shining India Best MLA Awards – Gujarat 2026, organised by Shining India News & Shining India Survey (A Unit of Shining India Infomedia Pvt. Ltd.), will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 6:30 PM at Town Hall, Sector-17, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The prestigious ceremony will recognise and honour the Top 10 Outstanding MLAs of Gujarat for their exceptional performance, extraordinary development work, distinguished public service, accessibility to citizens and meaningful contribution towards the welfare and progress of their constituencies.
The awardees have been identified following an extensive statewide ground-level survey and evaluation process designed to recognise public representatives whose work has created a positive and meaningful impact in the lives of the people they represent.
Gujarat’s Top 10 Outstanding MLAs to Receive Shining India Best MLA Award – 2026
Following the completion of an extensive statewide survey and detailed evaluation process, the Top 10 Outstanding MLAs of Gujarat have been selected to receive the prestigious Shining India Best MLA Award – Gujarat 2026.
These legislators are being recognised for their outstanding constituency development, effective leadership, dedicated public service, accessibility and responsiveness to citizens, and sustained commitment to public welfare.
The evaluation considered several important parameters, including performance in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, accessibility and availability to citizens, public grievance redressal, responsiveness, interaction with constituents, development initiatives, governance and administrative effectiveness, public satisfaction, transparency, accountability and overall contribution towards constituency development.
The assessment also considered work in important areas such as education, healthcare, drinking water, roads and infrastructure, rural and community development, sanitation, women empowerment and child welfare, skill development, social welfare, tribal and community development and environmental initiatives.
Serving Ministers Also Among Selected Top 10 MLAs
Among the Top 10 Outstanding MLAs selected for the Shining India Best MLA Awards – Gujarat 2026 are also some serving Ministers of the Government of Gujarat.
Their selection has been made on the basis of their performance as elected Members of the Legislative Assembly, constituency-level development work, accessibility, responsiveness, public service and direct public feedback gathered during the statewide survey.
The recognition is based on the same predefined assessment parameters applied to all legislators, irrespective of the position or office held by them.
The objective is to recognise performance as a public representative and encourage a healthy and constructive environment in public life, inspiring elected representatives to continuously strive for better governance, greater accessibility, accountability and excellence in public service.
Four-Month Ground Survey Across All 182 Assembly Constituencies
The selection process for the 18th Shining India Best MLA Awards – Gujarat 2026 followed an extensive four-month ground survey covering all 182 Assembly constituencies of Gujarat.
During this comprehensive exercise, the Shining India Survey team interacted with more than 2.16 lakh people across Gujarat, gathering direct grassroots feedback and understanding citizens’ experiences, expectations and assessment of their elected representatives.
The research focused on field-level assessment and direct public interaction, enabling the evaluation process to reflect ground realities and constituency-level performance.
Based on field research, direct public feedback and predefined assessment parameters, 55 MLAs with commendable performance reports were shortlisted, from whom the Top 10 outstanding performers were selected for recognition.
Hon’ble Prof. Jagdish Mukhi Ji to Grace the Ceremony as Chief Guest
The ceremony will be graced by Hon’ble Prof. Jagdish Mukhi Ji, Former Governor of Assam, as the Chief Guest.
Prof. Jagdish Mukhi Ji is a distinguished statesman, academician and senior public figure with several decades of experience in governance and public service.
He served as the Governor of Assam and earlier as the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, besides holding additional gubernatorial responsibilities.
During his distinguished political career in Delhi, Prof. Mukhi Ji held important portfolios including Finance, Planning, Excise & Taxation and Higher Education. He also served as Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly for ten years and represented the Janakpuri Assembly constituency seven times.
His contribution to education and public service has been an important part of his distinguished career.
