NIA Arrests 7th Accused In Delhi Terror Blast Case; Accused Of Harbouring Red Fort Bomber Umar Un Nabi

NewDelhi: The National Investigation Agency has made a seventh arrest in the deadly November 10 Red Fort car bombing, nabbing a Faridabad resident who allegedly harboured the suicide bomber immediately prior to the attack.

The accused was identified as Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Faridabad. He was arrested for “harbouring terrorist Umar Un Nabi immediately before the Delhi terror bomb blast,” an official statement by the anti-terror agency confirmed. Soyab is also accused of giving vital logistic support to Umar in the lead-up to the blast that claimed 13 lives and injured almost two dozen others.

Unraveling The White-Collar Terror Module

The suicide bombing, which saw Umar Un Nabi driving an explosive-laden i20 car through Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area before it detonated, has been linked to a “white-collar terror module” operating under the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad group.

The Bomber: The deceased bomber, Umar un-Nabi (alias Umar Mohammad), was an assistant professor at the Al Falah University in Faridabad.

Associates in Custody: The arrest of Soyab has brought the number of suspects in police custody to seven. These include former associates of Umar at Al Falah University: Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel, and Adeel Rather.

Larger Conspiracy: According to sources, the members of the busted JeM module were actively planning a series of terror attacks across major cities in India.

Multi-State Probe Continues

The NIA is continuing to pursue various leads and conduct multi-state searches to fully unravel the conspiracy behind the terror attack and identify additional collaborators.

Focus of Investigation: The agency’s current efforts are geared towards tracking down other individuals involved in the planning, financing, and execution of the attack.

NIA Statement: The anti-terror agency stressed that it “has been continuously pursuing various leads in connection with the suicide bombing,” and efforts are underway to unravel the entire conspiracy.
