BJP deny forming government in Delhi, call for fresh electionsNew Delhi:  Bharatiya Janata Party had denied formation of government in Delhi and demand for fresh election in National Capital.

In a letter to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung conveyed in person by Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay and senior leader Jagdish Mukhi, the single largest party in the Assembly said it has no intention of forming the government and favours fresh elections.

Sources claimed that BJP leaders to met Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday and said that they wanted fresh election in Delhi.

Notify that BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal combine has 29 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. The alliance had won 32 seats in the December elections but three BJP MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections.

The L-G had invited the AAP, BJP and Congress leaders to discuss government formation in the national capital. BJP is the single largest party and the L-G had been exploring options to invite it to form government.

Meanwhile after the huge success of the party in nearby Haryana and Maharashtra, the party hopes to form a majority government in Delhi too.

Notable that Delhi has been under President’s Rule since February after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had resign from his post and AAP stepped down after remaining in power for 49 days.
