Bhopal: Violence had been took place in Army recruitment rally in Madhya Pradesh as candidates at an army recruitment camp attacked police, railway station and shops, and setting vehicles on fire, alleging irregularities in the selection process.
At least six persons were on Wednesday injured in a stampede following violence by candidates after cancellation of an Army recruitment rally here.
The incident started at around 7.30 in the morning, an hour after the start of the rally for recruitment. Over 20,000 aspirants hailing from Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri and Gwalior had assembled at Vyapar Mela Ground for Indian Army Soldiers Recruitment Rally at Gwalior which started on November 11.
General Duty, Nursing Assistant, Technical Dresser, Technical, Tradesman are the post for which recruitments were being done on vacant posts of soldier.
Trouble had been started as little police force without barricading had been deployed at all to control the inflow of candidates.
A group of aspirants pushed others in front of them to get first chance for the mandatory run in the first qualifying round.
Inspector General Adarsh Katiyar claimed that Army authorities cancelled the rally at the last minute following which the enraged job aspirants went on a rampage due to alleged mismanagement.
Army authorities change the schedule of rally as some aspirants had continued to create ruckus. The result was a stampede and, as aspirants retreated, some among them started pelting stones.
Chief of state intelligence wing Sarabjeet Singh said, “As per initial information candidates went on rampage after a change in the schedule of rally. No casualties have been reported so far.”
Some unidentified candidates torched 6-7 vehicles, damaged a few others and some properties in the area, he said.
IG said that six persons suffered injuries in the stampede. They were admitted to a local hospital and later discharged after being provided medical treatment.
