Bangalore, 18th April: Terror attack struck Bangalore on Wednesday when a low-intensity bomb exploded near the BJP city office in which at least 16 people injured, including 11 policemen, indicated the hands of terrorists, said CM jagdish shetter on Thursday.

He said to reporters visiting the blast site “By tomorrow or day after, details will be known about the incident and appropriate action will be taken in this regard”.

The special police have started a comprehensive investigation and the central agencies are also assisting them in the process, the chief minister said. “Investigation is on to know the perpetrators behind the explosion,” he said.

Asked if the explosion was targeted at BJP, Shettar said he did not want to give a political colour, but going by the events “I suspect that it was so.”

“The incident shows that there is a hand of terrorists,” he said.

The bomb, apparently strapped to a motorbike with a Tamil Nadu registration plate parked between a van and a car, went off around 10.30 AM about 100 metres diagonally opposite BJP office in Malleshwaram.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashoka said the attack was an act of “terror.”

The blast triggered a loud bang and shattered window panes of some nearby buildings, prompting people to flee in panic. Jagannath Bhavan, the office of the ruling BJP was teeming with activity at the time of explosion.

“Government will give compensation to the injured and family members of those whose houses have been damaged,” CM jagdish shetter said and appealed to people to maintain peace and not fall prey to rumours.
