India and China made commitment of ‘peace & tranquillity’

NEW DELHI, May 20: After the official meeting of Prime Minister Manmohan singh with his chinese counterpart Li Keqiang in New Delhi, Singh addressed media and said India and China are commited to ‘peace & tranquillity’ along the border. Manmohan Singh said that rise of India and China was good for the world. PM Manmohan Singh also said, “Special representatives of India and China will consider further measures that may be needed to ensure peace and tranquillity along the border.”

PM said that India has flagged concerns on Chinese action in upper reaches which has impact on lower riparians on the issue of dams being built by China on Brahmaputra.

India and China had signed on eight agreements in different areas.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday said peace and regional stability cannot be a reality without strategic mutual trust between China and India.

Li Keqiang said, “The purpose of my current visit to India is three fold — to increase mutual trust, to intensify cooperation and to face the future,” adding that he hoped that the two sides would increase strategic mutual trust.

After inspecting a guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Li Keqiang said “And likewise the development of prosperity of the world cannot be a reality without the cooperation and simultaneous development of China and India.”
